What's New in Noticky

A human-readable changelog. Less commit log, more product story: what changed, why it matters, and what got smoother.

v1.5.2UPDATE

Notes become overlays, screenshots become tools

This release pushes Noticky beyond plain sticky notes. You can turn screenshots into floating overlays, keep images on screen as visual references, build checklist notes with real progress, and send selected text into Noticky from PopClip.

Added

  • PopClip support to turn selected text into a new Noticky note
  • A button in Settings to install the PopClip extension faster
  • Hide From Screen Capture to keep notes out of screenshots, recordings, and screen sharing
  • Sticky Screenshot to convert a selected screenshot into a floating image note
  • A customizable Sticky Screenshot shortcut in Settings
  • Checklist notes with interactive tasks and visible completion progress
  • Floating image overlays from screenshots or clipboard images
  • Image controls for wheel resizing, opacity, lock, safer click-through, rounded corners, and double-click zoom
  • Images shared from the macOS Share menu now open directly as floating overlays
  • New note skins: Receipt, Blueprint, Terminal, and Cork
  • Smart Sticky actions now show an in-note animated progress state while Apple Intelligence is working
v1.3.5FIX

Checklist and editor polish

A cleanup release focused on reliability: task lists now keep their state, formatting controls behave more predictably, and list editing feels less frustrating.

Fixed

  • Task-list checkbox state now persists after closing, reopening, or collapsing notes
  • Formatting toolbar actions now apply reliably on repeated single clicks
  • Double-clicking formatting controls no longer collapses the note by accident
  • Bullet, numbered, and task lists now exit list mode when you press Enter on an empty item
v1.3.3UPDATE

More control over capture and layout

This update made Noticky more flexible: you can choose where Quick Capture appears, define default note styling, and customize layout shortcuts without colliding with macOS screenshot keys.

Added

  • Pick any corner for Quick Capture, or disable it completely
  • Set a default font and size for every new note
  • Customize layout shortcuts for Free, Stack, and Tile modes
  • Reorder notes in Stack and Tile layouts by dragging them

Fixed

  • Crash on launch when many pinned notes were being restored at once
  • Visual tearing during collapse and expand in Modern Design
  • General stability improvements around fold animations and editor startup
v1.1.1UPDATE

Onboarding and shortcut control

This release made the first-run experience much clearer and removed the hardcoded note shortcut, which was conflicting with Safari for some people.

Added

  • A 4-step onboarding flow for new users
  • A configurable New Note shortcut in Preferences

Fixed

  • Onboarding window closing right after launch
  • New notes opening too small and clipping the formatting toolbar
  • Sandboxed auto-updates failing because Sparkle services were not fully configured
v1.1.0UPDATE

Sync, widgets, and sharing

A foundational product release: iCloud sync arrived, widgets went live, and sharing into Noticky became possible from outside the app.

Added

  • Check for Updates in the menu bar app
  • iCloud sync with CKSyncEngine
  • Share extension support
  • Three widget types

Fixed

  • Sparkle sandbox update exceptions
  • Provisioning and entitlement issues for Developer ID builds
